AT&T and Android a possibility

AT&T has plans to sell cell phones based on Android with the assurance from Google that it won't be forced to offer all Google Apps.

AT&T Mobility President and CEO Ralph de la Vega met with Google for an in-depth briefing on Android, he said, speaking during a press lunch at the CTIA Wireless conference in Las Vegas. Google assured AT&T that the operator would be able to customize Android phones to include any applications, he said. "That's attractive to us. We were concerned that maybe the focus was just on Google apps," de la Vega said.

"If it's good for customers we'll offer it like any other OS," he said. "It is something we'd want in our portfolio."

Uber Gizmo reviews EEE PC 1000HE

Ubergizmo gives the Asus EEE PC 1000HE a positive review. Saying this

The Asus Eee PC 1000HE is a formidable netbook by its own accord, and it certainly is one of the better ones out there in the market currently. Apart from the phenomenally long battery life, other outstanding features are the digital array microphones for crystal clear communication, an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam and an additional 10GB of free Eee Storage capability where you are able to access these files remotely from anywhere in the world – as long as there is an Internet connection. If only the display's resolution could be improved upon. Overall an excellent choice for a first netbook. Just don't expect too much out of its processor if you haven't used a netbook before, as this is meant to be a machine that does well for casual Web surfing and office productivity software. Here's a hat tip though – Firefox 3.0 runs much faster than Internet Explorer 7/8 on the Eee PC 1000HE (and any other machines for that matter, tee hee!)

CrunchGear goes hands on with the Velocity Mobile 103 and 111

Lucky CrunchGear Editor Peter Ha got to go hands on with the 103 and 111.

Here's what he had to say

The 103 and 111 are impressive devices in their own right, but what VM wants to do with Windows Mobile is even more impressive. They don’t want to put a top layer over it with something flashy, which others have done and failed at a number of times. I’m excited to see the finalized version in a few weeks when we get the devices in for review.
